In the wake of the dimensional weight announcements earlier this year, both carriers have recently announced their General Rate Increases for 2015. The high level changes are as follows:
FedEx - Effective January 5, 2015
- Express (package and freight) standard list rates will increase an average of 4.9%
- Ground and Home Delivery rates will increase an average of 4.9%
- Ground minimum charge is increasing from $6.24 to $6.61 (5.9% increase)
- Dimensional weight will apply to ALL ground shipments.
- Freight rates will increase on average 4.9%.
- Surcharges such as Delivery Area Surcharge (DAS) and Residential Delivery Charge are increasing across the board.

UPS - Effective December 29, 2014
- Air, Ground and International will increase an average of 4.9%
- Ground minimum charge is increasing from $6.24 to $6.61 (5.9% increase).
- Freight rates will increase on average 4.9%

- Surcharges such as Delivery Area Surcharge (DAS) and Residential Delivery
- Charge are increasing across the board.
